🛡️ Marines pay Anduril $15.7M to jam drones

Shield AI and Kraken demonstrated two Hivemind-enabled K3 SCOUT uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) autonomously coordinating an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) mission in Portsmouth.

The vessels searched an area using radar, cameras, and Automatic Identification System (AIS) data, then tracked and escorted a vessel of interest before replanning and resuming the search.

Shield AI says Hivemind removes the need for one operator per vessel while humans keep decision authority, and Kraken has already delivered 20 K3 SCOUTs to the Royal Navy.

Raytheon won a five-year multiyear contract with two option years worth up to $20.7 billion to produce Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs), awarded Sept. 25.

The deal follows a prior agreement supporting at least 1,900 AMRAAMs a year, and Raytheon nearly doubled output in 2025 versus 2024.

Congress has not yet appropriated the full funding, and the award joins a string of large munitions deals meant to rebuild depleted stockpiles.

U.S. Africa Command's first chief innovation officer, Lt. Col. Jared Bindl, says it is adopting AI, unmanned systems, and other technology to offset a shrinking ground presence.

Five priority areas include non-traditional ISR, autonomous resupply, counter-drone, AI-enabled command and control, and collaborative autonomy, with drone co-production nodes under study in Morocco, Ghana, and Djibouti.

The Marine Corps awarded Anduril $15.7 million for Pulsar-L electronic warfare systems to defend its Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) fleet, in a sole-source deal citing urgent need.

The sensor-jammer combination can defeat Group 1 and 2 drones and was the only solution fitting the ACV's space, weight, and power limits, according to the notice.

Deliveries begin in January and U.S. Special Operations Command already uses the system, as the Corps pushes counter-drone capability down to small units.

Indra secured a contract to supply a Lanza 3D long-range radar and command-and-control system for Phuket Air Base, the Royal Thai Air Force's third Lanza order.

The L-band radar detects drones, aircraft, projectiles, and missiles, and is built to operate in humid, interference-heavy conditions, with command-and-control based on Indra's AIRDEF system.

The order extends Thailand's air surveillance modernization, while the contract's value and delivery date remain undisclosed.
