🤖 Pentagon awards Dataminr $318M for real-time alerting

Dataminr won a $318 million Air Force contract for AI-powered situational awareness under the A2 Publicly Available Information Alerting program, a competitive acquisition that drew eight offers.
The deal covers force protection and indications and warnings on global events, with work running through June 25, 2031, and the capability expected to scale across the department.
Dataminr paired the award with its First Alert Advanced launch, adding autonomous AI agents and a new app on Palantir's Foundry Marketplace for agentic workflows.

Castelion received an $89.9 million firm-fixed-price Navy order to advance its Blackbeard hypersonic strike weapon toward early operational capability by 2028.
The order funds 50 EOC weapons, transition to a Navy program of record, and exportability design modifications, with work performed in Torrance, California.
Blackbeard targets unit costs under $500,000 at Mach 5-plus and roughly 500 nautical miles, aimed at giving carrier air wings magazine depth against A2/AD defenses.

AeroVironment received a $51 million Army delivery order for additional Switchblade 600 Block 2 loitering munitions, plus Block 1 systems supporting a foreign military sale.
The award falls under the Army's five-year, $990 million Lethal Unmanned Systems IDIQ issued in August 2024, a follow-on to the initial next-generation order.
Switchblade 600 has been fielded across more than 20 brigade combat teams since 2025, with Block 2 adding SPOTR target recognition and Silvus MANET radios.

Splash Industries added an Airstrike Pack module to its Typhoon uncrewed surface vessel, letting operators launch one-way attack drones from the sea through the Splash C2 system.
The module has already been tested in a force-on-force exercise, and the company says its vertically integrated approach costs a tenth of the nearest competitor.
The 11-foot Typhoon runs 600 nautical miles above 70 knots, and completed a fully autonomous resupply of USS Essex during the Rim of the Pacific exercise.

The Navy is weighing two designs for its Silent Anvil Air-Launched Torpedo: a purpose-built gliding torpedo, or a glide kit fitted to an existing weapon.
The torpedo must fit a BRU-61/A rack at Small Diameter Bomb dimensions, weigh under 268 pounds, and launch from altitudes between 10 and 60,000 feet.
Responses are due September 29, with a prototype sought inside 18 months and 180 all-up rounds three years after a successful demonstration.

The Army selected five companies to build nuclear microreactors at Forts Bragg, Campbell, Hood, Benning and Drum under agreements worth up to $2.2 billion combined.
Antares Nuclear, BWXT, General Atomics, Radiant and Westinghouse will own and operate the reactors, and will be paid only as they hit technical milestones.
The Janus program targets an operational reactor by September 2028 and more than 20 across DOD sites, cutting dependence on civilian grids and shipped fuel.

Boeing received a sole-source IDIQ contract worth up to $131.23 billion covering F-15 production, systems integration, upgrades and sustainment, with work wrapping by August 2037.
The Eagle Crest vehicle consolidates future F-15 orders for the Air Force, Air National Guard and international customers including Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia and South Korea.
The figure is a ceiling rather than committed spending, and follows an Air Force plan to more than double its F-15EX buy to 267 aircraft.
