📡 Two F-16s ranged air targets without using radar

Rheinmetall UK and Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf, two light tactical vehicles added to a proposed British Army lineup with Shadow Wolf and Caracal.

All four vehicles share the Mercedes-Benz G-Class W464 platform and are pitched for command, casualty evacuation, troop transport, logistics, and other specialist missions.

Rheinmetall targets up to 50 percent UK content and 30 British suppliers, with engineering and support planned at Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land in Telford.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has lobbied US leaders to allow Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptor production in Germany, citing a global supply shortfall.

Pistorius said last week's accord with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reflects Germany's willingness to build every Patriot element, including PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptors and launchers.

Approval rests largely on the US government and Lockheed Martin, which builds PAC-3 MSE and has a longstanding cooperation agreement with Rheinmetall in Germany.

Lockheed Martin's Legion sensor pods, fitted with a pre-production L3Harris HiveLink data link, let two F-16s share infrared tracking data in flight tests.

The shared data lets pilots range multiple airborne targets almost instantly without radar and prioritize the most critical threats, cutting workload and targeting timelines, Lockheed says.

Legion already flies in pod form on F-15 and F-16 aircraft, and future work covers software-defined radios, multi-waveform gateways, and crewed-uncrewed teaming.

Gen. Randall Reed, commander of US Transportation Command (Transcom), told DefenseTalks predictable just-in-time logistics is a self-induced vulnerability adversaries can exploit with AI.

Reed wants AI to randomize routes, ease cognitive overload, and predict friction, moving Transcom from predictable routing to randomized push logistics under ambush and degraded communications.

Reed warned adversaries can manipulate algorithms into catastrophic decisions, and listed data scarcity, flawed synthetic data, and massive computing needs as hurdles while Transcom builds a secure data layer.

President Trump told the UN General Assembly that all US government documents will now call artificial intelligence super intelligence, and he hopes other countries follow.

The White House has not announced how the change will be implemented, and super intelligence already refers to a hypothetical AI smarter than humans, which creates room for confusion.

Trump has cast the race for super intelligence as one to beat China, and he is slated to meet Xi Jinping this week to discuss trade and AI.
